Tokyo stocks decline despite retail investor support

Tokyo stocks fell on Monday, with the Nikkei Stock Average closing at 37,608.49, down 68.57 points or 0.18 per cent, as market sentiment was weighed down by uncertainty over US trade policies.

The Nikkei experienced gains as retail investors looked for dividends, with the recent uptick in US stocks also offering support. Nevertheless, worries about possible shifts in US tariff policies made investors wary.
