Germany’s economy grows slightly in Q1 ’25

Germany’s economy expanded by 0.2 per cent in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the previous quarter, according to data from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on Wednesday. The uptick follows a 0.2 per cent contraction in the final quarter of 2024.

The modest growth was supported by higher private consumption and increased investment activity.

However, on an annual basis, GDP fell 0.4 per cent in real terms compared with the first quarter of 2024, indicating lingering weakness in year-on-year terms.
