Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam inaugurated on Wednesday the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus in Egypt and the MENA Region Conference, held under the theme “Exploring and Bridging Nexus for a Sustainable Future”.
The high-level event is part of the SURENEXUS project, funded by the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA), an EU-backed initiative supporting applied scientific research on water, energy, and food across 19 countries in Europe and the Mediterranean.
Key partners in the project include the UNESCO Chair in Sustainability at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), in collaboration with Egypt’s El Mahrousa Centre for Socioeconomic Development (PDS), Future University in Egypt (FUE), and the National Institute of Agricultural Research (INRA) in Morocco.
