Trade volume between Egypt and Iraq recorded $1.1 billion in 2024, up from $872 million a year earlier, according to recent figures published by Egypt’s state statistics agency, CAPMAS.
Egyptian exports to Iraq also grew 18.3 per cent to $816 million in 2024, compared to $690 million, while imports from Iraq reached $284 million in 2024, up from $182 million in 2023, representing a 56 per cent increase.
Top Egyptian Exports to Iraq in 2024:
- Vegetables and fruit – $168.8 million
- Electrical machinery and appliances – $146.7 million
- Essential oils – $72.2 million
- Furniture and prefabricated buildings – $46.8 million
Top Imports from Iraq to Egypt in 2024:
- Fuel and mineral oils – $277.4 million
- Other commodity groups – $6.9 million
Remittances of Egyptian expats in Iraq amounted to $211.8 million during the 2023/2024 financial year, compared to $99.3 million in 2022/2023. Meanwhile, Iraqis’ remittances reached $1.8 million during the 2023/2024 financial year, up from $909,000 in 2022/2023.
Iraqi investments in Egypt were recorded at $3.7 million in the 2023/2024 financial year, compared to $1.5 million in 2022/2023. Egyptian investments in Iraq amounted to $27.4 million during 2023/2024, down slightly from $29 million in 2022/2023.
