Egypt has strongly condemned the storming of Al Aqsa Mosque by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and a large number of extremist settlers, describing it as part of ongoing Israeli escalation.
In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry warned of the consequences of such provocative actions, which offend the beliefs and sentiments of hundreds of millions of Muslims around the world. It also cautioned against the severe repercussions of such reckless behaviour on the security and stability of the region.
Egypt stressed the need for the international community to confront these serious Israeli violations and to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the right to establish an independent state based on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
