Egypt, Belarus discuss roadmap for joint industrial projects

Egypt’s Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir met with a Belarusian House of Representatives delegation led by Speaker Igor Sergeyenko to discuss bilateral cooperation in industrial localisation, as per a Cabinet statement.

El-Wazir announced intentions to arrange a meeting between the Belarusian MTZ company and the Federation of Egyptian Industries to explore forming a joint venture with an Egyptian private sector partner for tractor manufacturing.

The meeting focused on launching joint projects, including the local manufacturing of MTZ agricultural tractors in Egypt and establishing a logistics centre for grain storage and distribution to serve both the domestic market and exports.

El-Wazir stated that the ministry is dedicated to assisting Belarusian industrial projects in Egypt, specifically in areas such as road construction machinery, agricultural equipment, and crop harvesting technologies.

He added that the government will allocate the required land and facilitate necessary industrial permits for the MTZ tractor project, which is expected to involve a partnership with an Egyptian private-sector firm.

Regarding the grain logistics hub, El-Wazir noted the Ministry of Transport would provide land for the facility at a designated port. Technical teams from both countries are set to meet later today to coordinate implementation.

Sergeyenko expressed Belarus’s keen interest in expanding industrial and economic ties with Egypt, citing the country’s rapid infrastructure development, including the new administrative capital and road networks, as a solid foundation for future cooperation.
