China factory activity still contracts – PMI

China’s manufacturing activity increased to 49.5 in May from 49.0 in April, remaining below the 50-mark that indicates growth, as per the official purchasing managers’ index (PMI).

The second consecutive monthly decline in May has prompted calls for increased stimulus to bolster the economy amid ongoing trade tensions with the United States.
