Egypt’s Agriculture Min. discusses development plans for Sohag

Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk and Sohag Governor Abdel Fattah Sirag have discussed agricultural sector development efforts in the governorate.

The meeting tackled strategies to prevent encroachments on farmland, assist local farmers, and supply necessary agricultural inputs. It also highlighted the significance of agricultural cooperatives, improving extension services, adopting modern farming techniques, and training agricultural engineers to increase productivity.

Discussions also examined key areas for improving the sector in Sohag, including raising crop yields, increasing farmer support, and improving livelihoods in rural communities, according to a Cabinet statement.

Farouk reiterated the ministry’s support for agricultural projects that enhance food security, rural development, and empower rural women, in line with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s Decent Life initiative for Egypt’s countryside.
