Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) head Ahmed El Sobky held a meeting with executives from global healthcare giant Roche to explore ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and follow up on the progress of their strategic partnership.
Discussions focused on key areas including digital transformation, artificial intelligence in healthcare, data management, capacity building, and the establishment of specialised centres of excellence.
El Sobky highlighted a joint strategic project with Roche aimed at advancing data governance and digital transformation, with a particular focus on oncology and ophthalmology.
The initiative includes developing electronic medical record systems, health databases, and training programmes supported by regional and international Roche experts, all aimed at improving service quality and decision-making in Egypt’s healthcare system.
He added that the partnership also involves a feasibility study for a regional centre dedicated to using health data and AI applications to enhance decision-making and policy planning in the sector.
El Sobky also reviewed progress on establishing a centre of excellence for eye diseases at Al-Ramad Hospital in Port Said, which is being developed in partnership with a leading European medical centre.
The collaboration includes staff training, expert exchanges, and international medical missions, with the goal of boosting specialised care and strengthening Egypt’s capabilities in this critical field.
