Egypt’s PMS completes platform installation at W. Burullus oil field

Egypt’s Petroleum Marine Services (PMS) company announced on Monday the completion of the WEB Offshore platform installation as part of the West El Burullus offshore gas field development project in the Idku area, undertaken by West El Burullus Petroleum Company (PetroWeb), according to a statement by the Ministry of Petroleum.

The installation was executed using Petroleum Marine’s heavy-lift barge PMS 12 — one of the largest marine units of its kind in the Middle East — supported by a fleet of specialised auxiliary units. The scope of work included the installation of a 345-ton jacket structure followed by a 431-ton deck, using advanced marine lifting equipment. The operation was completed in record time and in line with international safety and quality standards.

This follows PMS’s recent completion of an 8-inch offshore pipeline at the same site using its Petroleum Marine 11 unit, which is equipped for subsea pipeline laying and platform installation. The company is now progressing with the next phase of the project, which includes laying a 14-inch, 32-kilometre pipeline and preparing for the installation of a second offshore platform, PAPYRUS — one of the main platforms planned to support production expansion in the West El Burullus area.
