Sudan’s envoy urges Egypt development partnership

Sudan’s Ambassador to Cairo Emad El-Din Mustafa Adawi has called for deeper cooperation with Egypt to advance development projects along Sudan’s western coast, citing Egypt’s leading expertise in infrastructure and new city development.

Speaking at the 10th edition of the Builders of Egypt Forum on Sunday, ambassador Adawi said Sudan is entering a new phase of reconstruction and stability, presenting an opportunity to attract Egyptian companies to invest in infrastructure and coastal development.

The ambassador identified key strategic areas—Sawakin, the Sanganeb Islands, and Arous Bay—as priority locations for investment that could deliver economic growth for Sudan and neighbouring countries.

Ambassador Adawi also stressed the importance of establishing logistics zones and free zones along Sudan’s borders to boost formal trade and foster regional integration. He explained that Sudan’s reconstruction strategy centres on strengthening the transport and logistics sectors and creating an investment-friendly environment to support broad development partnerships.

Ambassador Adawi then praised Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s leadership in supporting reconstruction efforts across Africa and commended the government, led by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, for its progress in urban development under Egypt’s Vision 2030. Moreover, he affirmed that Sudan and Egypt share a common vision, particularly regarding efforts to deepen Arab-African cooperation.
