Egypt’s PM attends UN Conference on Financing for Development

Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly represented President Abdel Fattah El Sisi at the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development in Seville, Spain, from June 30 to July 3, 2025, a Cabinet statement said on Monday.

The conference, attended by King Felipe VI of Spain and over 70 heads of state, leaders of international financial institutions, and private sector representatives from various industries, is a global platform for discussing sustainable financing strategies.

King Felipe VI underscored the importance of honouring international commitments for development financing and multilateral cooperation. He called for efficient policies, stronger multilateral frameworks, and action that safeguards the interests of future generations.

The Spanish Prime Minister stressed the importance of adhering to the commitments and initiatives introduced through the Seville platform. He called for reform of international financial institutions to ensure greater fairness and representation and emphasised the value of respectful multilateral dialogue.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres highlighted the impact of current geopolitical tensions on development efforts and the urgent need to mobilise financial resources and develop new financing mechanisms. He also reiterated the need for institutional reform to enhance transparency and representation.
