Egypt, Germany discuss expanding cooperation in civil aviation

Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El-Hefny met with German Ambassador to Cairo Jurgen Schulz to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the civil aviation sector, the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

The meeting focused on infrastructure development, training, and the exchange of technical expertise between the two countries. El-Hefny praised the longstanding and evolving relations between Egypt and Germany.

He noted that the ministry is implementing a comprehensive national strategy to upgrade the aviation sector, improve operational efficiency, and enhance service quality in line with global standards.

El-Hefny added that the ministry places strong emphasis on expanding partnerships with the private sector and leveraging international expertise in areas such as staff training, modernising airport systems, and introducing advanced technologies. Egypt, he said, is actively fostering a favourable investment climate with promising opportunities in civil aviation.

The ambassador noted the significant progress in Egypt’s aviation infrastructure and services and highlighted the strong interest of major German companies in participating in airport development projects.

Both sides agreed to continue coordination, foster technical cooperation, and work toward sustainable development in Egypt’s civil aviation sector, reinforcing the country’s position as a leading regional air transport hub.
