Statement on False Reports in the Media

We categorically deny the false claims in some Egyptian media that President Obama has been secretly questioned by the Congress about large sums of financial support for the Muslim Brotherhood.

Beyond such fictitious claims, allegations that we have provided large sums of cash assistance to the Muslim Brotherhood are false.  This reporting is irresponsible and without any merit.

We have provided economic and military assistance to the Government of Egypt and assistance to other programs that support the Egyptian people.  We have not given financial support to any individual partisan political party or group, or its leaders.
