Egyptian pound inches higher against dollar in early Monday trading

The Egyptian pound gained slightly against the US dollar in early Monday trading, with some banks quoting the currency at 47 pounds per dollar, according to official exchange data.

As of 11:01 a.m. Cairo time (09:01 GMT), the pound was trading at:

Bank Buy (EGP/USD) Sell (EGP/USD)
National Bank of Egypt (NBE) 47.02 47.12
Banque Misr 47.03 47.13
Commercial International Bank (CIB) 47 47.1
QNB Alahli 47.0000 47.1000
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) 47.1300 47.2300

The currency has moved within a narrow band in recent weeks, stabilising after months of sharp swings earlier this year, when persistent foreign currency shortages and elevated inflation put pressure on the market.
