Egypt reduces air cargo fees as mandatory ACI system goes live
Egypt has cut $80 from automation and related electronic service fees for incoming air shipments, the Finance Ministry said Thursday, ahead of the mandatory launch of the Advance Cargo Information (ACI) system. The total cost per shipment will now be $95 for six months, effective 1 January, 2026.
The fee reduction applies to automated processing and data verification conducted through the government’s electronic platform for commercial shipments. The move coincides with the ACI system’s compulsory rollout, which requires pre-registration of all air cargo, according to Ahmed Amawi, head of the Egyptian Customs Authority.
Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said the government is committed to working with businesses with flexibility and simplicity while strengthening governance. He added that the ACI system is designed to improve market oversight, ensure the flow of high-quality, standards-compliant goods, and boost competition for the benefit of consumers and local industry.
