Egypt’s Cabinet approves 3-month acceptance of EU, Euro-Med certificates of origin
Egypt’s Cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal to temporarily accept certificates of origin issued by the European Union and countries in the Euro-Mediterranean region, as part of preparations for the implementation of new regional rules of origin.
The measure will apply for up to three months, or until the ratification of a new regional convention is completed, and will be based on the principle of reciprocity.
The decision comes as Egypt prepares to activate the Euro-Mediterranean rules of origin under a new regional convention, which is scheduled to take effect on 1 Jan., 2026.
The temporary arrangement is intended to ensure continuity in trade flows and avoid disruptions during the transition to the new framework governing preferential trade within the Euro-Mediterranean region.
