Egypt, Saudi Arabia reaffirm ties, pledge coordination on regional crises

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Monday with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud to strengthen bilateral cooperation and coordinate on ongoing regional conflicts, the Egyptian presidency said.

The meeting, attended by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Atty and senior Saudi officials, emphasised the preparation for the first session of the Egyptian-Saudi Supreme Coordination Council, a platform intended to expand political, economic, and strategic collaboration between the two countries.

Sisi welcomed Saudi Arabia’s leadership in promoting development and prosperity and asked Prince Faisal to convey his greetings to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He stressed the importance of intensified coordination on regional crises and issues of mutual concern.

Prince Faisal delivered greetings from the Saudi leadership and reaffirmed Riyadh’s commitment to deepening ties with Egypt and expanding political consultations.

The meeting also addressed conflicts in Sudan, Yemen, Somalia, and Gaza, highlighting the shared goal of achieving peaceful solutions while preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of affected nations. The Egyptian president praised Saudi Arabia’s efforts to host a conference bringing together southern Yemeni factions for dialogue on the southern issue.
