Egypt’s Minister of Housing prioritises rural development in first meeting after swearing-in

Egypt’s newly appointed Minister of Housing Randa El-Menshawy on Wednesday emphasised that advancing the presidential Hayah Karima (Decent Life) Initiative to develop rural areas will be a top priority for her ministry.

In her first meeting since taking office, El-Menshawy met with ministry leaders and heads of implementing agencies to review progress on water and sanitation projects, treatment plants, and the expansion of utility networks in villages targeted by the initiative’s first phase. She stressed strict adherence to timelines, continuous field monitoring, and removing obstacles to ensure rapid implementation.

El-Menshawy also called for tighter coordination between ministry departments and contractors and vowed decisive action against underperforming companies.

Hayah Karima Initiative, launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, aims to improve living conditions and public services in rural communities, part of a broader government effort to promote sustainable and inclusive development across Egypt.
