Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdel-Atty on Wednesday inaugurated the first meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD), following official approval of its formation.
The move implements directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi aimed at strengthening Egypt’s presence in Africa. Abdel-Atty described the meeting as a “foundational milestone” and a new institutional launch to enhance Egypt’s regional and international development role.
The agency was originally announced by the president at the African Union summit in Malabo in 2014, reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to sustainable development and mutually beneficial partnerships.
The Board of Trustees combines political, executive, financial, and diplomatic expertise, alongside representatives from the private sector and academia, to guide the agency’s strategy, expand its programmes, and support capacity-building and development financing across Africa.
