The US dollar edged slightly higher against the Egyptian pound in midday trading on Tuesday, averaging around 52.31 pounds for buying and 52.41 pounds for selling across major banks as of 12:03 p.m. Cairo time (10:03 GMT).
Data from leading lenders showed the greenback trading within a relatively narrow range of 52.25 to 52.46 pounds, indicating broadly stable demand for foreign currency in the local market.
Exchange rates at several of Egypt’s major banks were as follows:
| Bank | Buy (EGP/USD) | Sell (EGP/USD) |
| National Bank of Egypt (NBE) | 52.32 | 52.42 |
| Banque Misr | 52.3 | 52.4 |
| Commercial International Bank (CIB) | 52.34 | 52.44 |
| QNB Alahli | 52.2500 | 52.3500 |
| Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) | 52.3600 | 52.4600 |
The modest uptick comes as the Egyptian pound continues to trade within a relatively stable band against the dollar, following Egypt’s shift to a more flexible exchange rate regime in March 2024.
