Egypt’s food exports reach 230,000 tons in a week – NFSA

Egypt exported about 230,000 tons of food during the week of 11–17 April 2026, driven by shipments of citrus fruit and potatoes, with Saudi Arabia remaining the largest buyer, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said Sunday.

In its 14th weekly report for 2026, the NFSA said 4,827 export consignments were shipped by 1,511 companies, covering about 760 types of food products, including fruits, vegetables, grains, and processed foods.

Fruit exports totalled about 80,000 tons across 39 categories, with citrus leading at around 60,000 tons. Strawberries followed at about 13,000 tons, while other fruit varieties accounted for roughly 7,000 tons.

Vegetable exports reached about 56,000 tons across 46 categories, with potatoes leading at 22,000 tons. Sweet potatoes followed at 9,000 tons, while beans accounted for about 7,000 tonnes.

Saudi Arabia was the top destination for Egyptian food exports during the week, followed by Syria, Yemen, Russia, and the Netherlands, out of 191 importing countries.

The NFSA said the figures reflect continued demand across regional and international markets.
