Egypt’s Prime Minister inaugurates $10m expansion of Ateco Pharma in Sokhna

Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly inaugurated on Thursday the expansion of Ateco Pharma Egypt for intravenous medical solutions in the Sokhna Industrial Zone, with investments of $10 million for the second phase, bringing total investments in the project to $60 million.

The factory, located within the Orascom Industrial Parks developer area in the integrated Sokhna Industrial Zone, specialises in manufacturing various types and sizes of intravenous medical solutions.

The second phase spans 20,000 square metres and provides 100 direct job opportunities, raising total employment across both phases to 600 jobs. The expansion has an annual production capacity of 15 million bottles, increasing total output to 50 million intravenous solution bottles annually in P.E. and P.P. types. The facility relies on the latest global technology using the B.F.S system and complies with Good Manufacturing Practice standards.

The inauguration took place during Madbouly’s tour of the Suez Canal Economic Zone. Madbouly stressed that the state places the pharmaceutical and medical supplies sector at the top of its priorities, noting that the facility, which operates fully automatically in line with the requirements of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), represents a model of the state’s goal to localise advanced technology.

He also instructed continued support for such projects to ensure sustainable production, meet the needs of public and private hospitals, and strengthen access to global markets.

He added that the project is the first and largest of its kind in the economic zone and directly aims to reduce import dependency in strategic intravenous solutions, while also exporting to more than 13 Arab and African countries, in addition to Latin American markets.
