Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, reviewed the final preparations for establishing the Phosphate Industries Complex in Ain Sokhna during a meeting with Ahmed Elsewedy, President and CEO of Elsewedy Electric.
The project will be implemented through a partnership between MRMIA, Al Wadi Al Gedid for Mineral Resources and Oil Shale (WADICO), and Elsewedy Electric, and aims to maximise the economic value of Egypt’s mineral resources by developing integrated mining industries.
Badawi said the complex represents a strategic step in Egypt’s efforts to move from exporting raw minerals to producing higher-value mineral products, while reflecting the success of mining sector reforms and the importance of public-private partnerships.
He added that the project supports Egypt’s targets of increasing the mining sector’s contribution to gross domestic product and achieving sustainable development.
