Sisi appoints new head of crisis management authority
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi appointed Lieutenant General Mohamed Abdel Rahman Bassiouni Salem Rabie, Chief of the Armed Forces Operations Authority, as chairman of the National Authority for Crisis and Emergency Management, according to a presidential decree issued Thursday.
The decree also appointed Major General Hany Mahmoud Sayed Mansour, Director of the Armed Forces Signal Corps, as deputy chairman of the authority.
Major General Sameh Nabil Youssef of the Interior Ministry was named assistant chairman.
The appointments take effect immediately from 9 July, 2026, the decree said.
The National Authority for Crisis and Emergency Management is responsible for coordinating Egypt’s preparedness for and response to crises, emergencies, and disasters in cooperation with government agencies and security institutions.
