Egypt, India FMs discuss bilateral ties, regional developments at BRICS

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Atty met his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Sunday on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and regional developments of mutual interest.

The two ministers welcomed progress in Egyptian-Indian relations in recent years and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the strategic partnership launched in 2023, according to a statement from Egypt’s foreign ministry.

They stressed the importance of maintaining the momentum through increased high-level visits and regular consultations, while exchanging views on regional developments.

The ministers also emphasised diplomatic efforts and political solutions, the need to avoid military escalation, and the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation, the statement said.
