Egypt’s Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, the head of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), which is currently the custodial government in the transitional period, said on Thursday that the Armed Forces will always put first state interests and would not support any certain presidential candidate.
Tantawi made the remark while inspecting military formations at a military exercise staged by the second and third field armies.
Tantawi also hailed the role of Armed Forces men in securing the internal front and Egypt’s borders and putting up with attempts to weaken their determination.
The ceremony was attended by Lt. General Sami Anan, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and the Deputy Chief of the SCAF and Lt. General Abdel Aziz Saif, the Commander of the Air Defense Force.
