Small Bomb, Bus Attack Leave No Injuries In Alexandria

Unknown assailants set alight a public bus in Alexandria on Friday several hours after an improvised bomb exploded elsewhere in the coastal city, in both cases causing no injuries.

The assailants threw Molotov cocktails at the bus in the heart of the city, causing damage and interrupting traffic in surrounding areas, a local security official said.

Earlier in the day an improvised bomb exploded at a police station near a luxury sea-front hotel in the eastern part of the city, leaving no casualties, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

Bombings and shootings have become commonplace in Egypt since the 2013 ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi and a harsh crackdown on his supporters.

The attacks have mainly targeted security personnel but have also led to civilian casualties.
