An Egyptian judicial committee investigating NGOs accused of receiving illegal foreign funds imposed late Monday a gag order that bars all local media outlets from reporting on the case.
The case dates back to 2011, when the Egyptian Ministry of Justice accused several NGOs of illegally receiving funds from foreign governments and institutions.
It resurfaced when the judicial committee froze last week the assets of four Egyptian human rights activists, including lawyer Gamal Eid and journalist Hossam Bahgat.
