Jordan-Egypt trade exchange hit $650mn; International Cooperation official says

The total volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Jordan is currently estimated at around US$650 million, Head of Arab and African Cooperation sector at Egyptian international cooperation ministry said Tuesday.

Fathi Abdel Azim stated that Egypt-Jordan trade exchange registered around US$773 million during 2015.

The official made these remarks on the sidelines of the Preparatory Meetings For the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Committee.

The 26th session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee scheduled to be held in Cairo on 29-31 August 2016 and to be chaired by Prime Minister Sherif Ismael and his Jordanian counterpart  Hani Al-Mulki.

He clarified that the Jordanian side urged the Egyptian government to register Jordanian firms exporting to Egypt with no restrictions or conditions.

Abdel Azim pointed out that Egypt agreed on registering Jordanian firms that follow Egyptian standards, terms, and legislations.

On other side, Egyptian exports to the Jordanian markets are estimated at around US$500 million while state’s imports to Jordan worth around US$150 million, the head clarified.
