CEC chief: Egypt eyes total exports of $30bn by 2020

The strategy of the Egyptian government targets raising exports volume from US$18.6 billion to US$30 billion by 2020.

Khaled Abu El Makarem -Head of Chemical Export Council (CEC)- stated that exporting councils are currently working on a number of projects to promote Egyptian exports in cooperation with the Egyptian Commercial Services Office (ECS) so as to open new markets, remove obstacles, and activate international agreements.

The official made these remarks during the Third Akhbar Al-Youm third Economic Conference entitled “Egypt – the way to the future, breakthrough and challenges.”

The Egyptian government is currently studying implementing logistics projects through establishing ware houses and storage areas outside Egypt notably in African markets.

Abu El Makarem noted that the volume of Egypt’s exports to African markets do not exceed 0.5 percent and the councils plan to raise this volume to 10 percent within the upcoming five years.
