The Egyptian Food Export Council (EEC) announced Thursday that Saudi Arabia had captured 19 percent of Egypt’s frozen vegetables and fruits exports throughout 2016.
The kingdom had imported Egyptian frozen vegetables and fruits exports worth $49 million last year.
The council further added that the total volume of Egypt’s frozen vegetables and fruits exports to world markets had reached around $250 million, representing nine percent of the country’s total food industries exports, which amounted to $2.7 billion during 2016.
Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries had imported around 96,000 tonnes of Egyptian frozen vegetables and fruits worth $102.5 million.
EEC referred to the importance of the Saudi market, which accommodates half of the Egyptian frozen vegetables and fruits exports to the GCC.
