Egypt’s Industry and Trade Ministry has launched so far around 566 projects in Upper Egypt, with an expected investment cost worth around 6.8 billion Egyptian pounds ($383.8 million), said Minister Tarek Qabil on Tuesday.
The flagships will be established over 2 million square metres, Qabil further said during visiting Qena, accompanied by Minister of Planning Hala al-Saeed, Governor of Qena Abdul Hamid Al-Hajan, and a number of parliament members.
“These projects would provide about 13,000 direct job opportunities,” he stated.
The ministry has allocated a bunch of free land plots in eight Upper Egypt governorates; 86 in Sohag, 65 in Assiut, 53 in Luxor, 25 in Aswan, 162 in Minya, 75 in Beni Suef, 81 in Qena, and 19 in New Valley, Qabil said.
Qabil referred that the trade ministry seeks to launch more free industrial land plots in all Upper Egypt governorates within 2018.
