State Council Postpones Misr Insurance’s Split Case To Final Hearing

Investment Department at the State Council’s Administrative Judiciary Court postponed the lawsuit raised by Misr Insurance Company’s employees against applying the law no.118 of 2008, which obligates the split of life insurance from property insurance in order to read the final report.

Essam El Eslamboly, legal consultant of Al Karama Party, had filed a lawsuit no. 42012/65 against applying the law no.118 of 2008 at the Administrative Court.

Mahmoud Ahmed El Shagheer, the lawyer present on behalf of El Eslamboly, told Amwal Al Ghad that the court commissioners are expected to release the final report after considering the documents and papers submitted to them. Afterwards, the report will be referred to the court to issue a verdict. El Shagheer assured that this report is just a consulting report. All lawsuits undergo the same process, he confirmed. El Shagheer said he submitted a statement of defense today nullifying the administrative court’s verdict which obligates the split of life insurance from property insurance.

Misr Insurance Company’s employees were chanting before the State Council today, demanding the right to hold senior administrative positions and the raising incentive payments.

Essam Abdel Fattah, treasurer of the Committee Union, said yesterday the employees will challenge the law at the Supreme Constitutional Court, if the Administrative Court decided to apply the separation.

It is worth mentioning that if the court approves the non-separation of life insurance from property insurance it will be applied only to Misr Insurance Company because it is the only party that have been negatively affected by the separation.
