NBE Collected EGP 82 Bln Taxes Electronically In FY 2011/12

The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) succeeded in collecting about EGP 82 billion in taxes electronically in FY 2011/2012, said Mohamed Ihab, head of banking services group at NBE.

On the sidelines of the symposium held by NBE today to introduce the banking transactions and technologies, Ihab said NBE conducted  97% of the total value of the electronic payments and allocated 93 branches for conducting such payments. Working hours at such branches were extended to 5 p.m. The bank also contributed to collecting customs electronically through its branches nearby to ports.

NBE has a leading role in collecting government dues electronically as it signed a number of agreements with the Ministry of Finance to transfer the salary of 600,000 employees to the bank.
