Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi told Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Tehran that “Egypt views Iran as a strategic ally.” He further added, “We believe everyone should see to it that regional developments are facilitated.”
In a statement issued by Ahmadinejad’s bureau, the Iranian leader said that “The Zionist regime is a threat to the region’s nations and the world.” He noted that the West decides on alliances “based on international arena interests.”
