Egypt’s Pharmaceuticals market grows 20% in 7 month

The Pharmaceuticals market in Egypt has witnessed a growth rate of 20 percent  during January-July 2019, Deputy Head of Pharmaceuticals, Cosmetics, and Appliances Chamber at the Federation of Egyptian Industries ‘FDI,’ Osama Rostom said.

The Pharmaceuticals companies sales registered 43.8 billion Egyptian pounds with in  January-July 2019 in comparison to 35.1 billion pounds during the same periode 2018.

Rostom told Amwal Al Ghad that The top 10 companies in achieving highest sales in the first 7 months of 2019 include Novartis, Glaxo, Sanofi, Farco, Amoun Pharmaceutical , Eipico, Eva, Pfizer, Al-Hikma and Marcyrl Pharmaceutical Industeries.

He added that the volume of sales has increased by 12 percent in the first 7 months of 2019 recording 1.44 billion medicine packs compared to 1.267 packs a year earlier.

The local market includes 160 pharmaceutical factories and 1,400 trading companies that manufacture their products  through third parties, along with 20 foreign companies operating in the market, either through factories in Egypt or through scientific offices, he added.
