Al Tameer Cement in Talks with Germany’s KHD over EGP2.2 billion Line

Egypt’s Al Tameer Cement plans to build a new production line for its factory in Assiut city within two years. The new line will be with investment cost of 2.2 billion Egyptian pounds (US$288.4 million).

From his part, Samir Sabry – Al Tameer’s Managing Director – said his company had already applied for an expansion licence from the Egyptian Industrial Development Authority (IDA) to start carrying out the new line.

Al Tameer is the cement arm of the Building Materials Industry Company (BMIC).

There are current talks between Al Tameer Cement and Germany’s KHD Humboldt Wedag International so as to supply the new line with the required equipments, Sabry stated.

Moreover, the official said the planned line would produce 2 million tonnes annually. The new line will boost Al Tameer’s total production capacity to 4 million tonnes annually.
