AOSR Honors Egypt’s communications ministry boosting social responsibility

Represented by the Social Responsibility sector, Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) took part in the Arab Banks Social Responsibility Forum, organised by the Arab Organization for Social Responsibility (AOSR) in Sharm El-Sheikh on August 30-31.

During the event, MCIT’s Social Responsibility Sector was honored for its distinguished methodology towards activating the concept of social responsibility in Egypt, and its supportive role for the sector’s projects and efforts achieved by the Ministry in this regard.

The ICT Minister’s Advisor for Social Responsibility and Services Abeer Shakweer has presented MCIT strategy regarding social responsibility, and the key achievements in this regard, the most important of which is supporting and empowering People with Disabilities (PwDs) in educational and health fields and all walks of life.

MCIT adopted many projects including the PwDs thousand school initiative, the training of special education teachers, training and rehabilitating PwDs for better job opportunities project and the International Computer Driving License (ICDL).

Shakweer also talked about the major projects and campaigns carried out in the area of social responsibility, such as ICT integrated inclusive community centers project—implemented by MCIT with both Cairo and South Sinai governorates—which is currently being executed in Giza, the Red Sea and Fayoum. This in addition to the projects of ICT support for punitive establishments, supporting orphanages, 800 community schools, as well as a number of campaigns such as blood donation and power rationalization using text messages.
