Asia bourses mixed while Australia stocks jump almost 6%

Stock markets in Asia ended on Tuesday mixed, with shares in Australia leading gains among the region as they attempted to recover from the decline a day earlier.

The S&P/ASX 200 ended 5.83 percent higher at 5,293.40 after plunging around 10 percent on Monday.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 ended trading slightly higher at 17,011.53. Topix index climbed 2.6 percent to close its trading day at 1,268.46. South Korea’s Kospi ended trading 2.47 percent lower at 1,672.44.

Shares in mainland China closed their trading day lower. The Shanghai composite dipped 0.34 percent to approximately 2,779.64 while the Shenzhen composite fell 0.425 percent to around 1,704.74.
