European stock markets higher at opening despite coronavirus crisis

European stock markets opened higher on Tuesday despite the fast-spreading coronavirus putting the continent in shutdown mode and fueling fears of an impending recession, CNBC reported.

The pan-European Stoxx 600 surged 2.7 percent at the beginning of trading.
