Asia-Pacific stocks mixed on Monday

Asia-Pacific markets traded mixed on Monday as investors analysed trade negotiations and key data points, including industrial output figures for South Korea and Japan in May 2025, as well as China’s PMI readings for June 2025.

Mainland China’s CSI 300 index rose by 0.37 per cent to close at 3,936.08, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index declined by 0.87 per cent to 24,072.28.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 0.84 per cent to finish at 40,487.39, reaching an over 11-month high earlier in the session, and the broader Topix index rose by 0.43 per cent to 2,852.84.

In South Korea, the Kospi index ended 0.52 per cent higher at 3,071.70, while the small-cap Kosdaq remained unchanged at 781.50.

Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 increased by 0.33 per cent to close at 8,542.30. On the other hand, India’s Nifty 50 index decreased by 0.53 per cent, and the BSE Sensex dropped by 0.54 per cent as of 1:45 p.m. Indian Standard Time.
