Asian markets briefing 17/05/2023

The majority of the Asian markets closed low on Wednesday with the Chinese main index, SSEC, dropping by -0.21 percent. The index closed at 3,284.23 and lost 6.76 points. It recorded a day high value of 3,298.52 and a day low value of 3,269.89.

Nikkei 225, Japan’s main index, rose by -0.84 percent to 30,093.59 after it gained 250.60 points. The index recorded a day high value of 30,115.32 and a day low value of 29,912.44.

HSI, Hong Kong main index, fell drastically by -2.09 percent and lost 417.68 points to close at 19,560.57. It recorded a day high value of 19,987.93 and a day low value of 19,538.09.
