Barclays ups Egypt personal financing activities to $274mn at end-September

Barclays Egypt’s personal finance portfolio rose to 2.2 billion Egyptian pounds (US$274 million) by the end of September 2015 from 1.9 billion pounds by late December 2014.

Sherif El Behery – Strategy & Planning, Marketing & Corporate Affairs Director at Barclays Egypt – told Amwal Al Ghad that the bank’s portfolio of personal deposits recorded around 7.9 billion pounds by September-end.

Barclays Egypt plans to inaugurate two new branches in Cairo before end of March 2016 as part of an expansion plan to have further three branches before the end of 2016, El Behery said.

Earlier in January, Barclays Egypt has inaugurated a branch in Mall of Arabia, to be the bank’s second branch present in one of Egypt’s biggest malls.

Barclays operates in over 50 countries and employs approximately 127,000 people. In Egypt, Barclays has 150 years of world class financial services and now operates through a wide network of 56 branches and 85 ATMs all over the country.
