Poland eases travel warnings on Egypt

The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs eased travel warnings Tuesday to tourists wishing to visit five Red Sea cities in Egypt; Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada, El Gouna, Safaga, and Marsa Allam.

Egypt has topped a list of travel destinations preferred by Polish tourists.

In 2010, the number of Polish tourists to Egypt stood at 593,596, but since the 2011 uprising the number of visits dropped to 378,134, to eventually register 181,851 during the period from January to September 2015.

In July, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs raised its travel warning to the Egyptian Red Sea resorts to the third, “orange” level, meaning it advises its nationals not to travel there.

Several European countries including Germany, Italy, Ireland, Denmark and Spain lifted their travel bans to Egypt during the end of 2014.
