Colombia unveils $40b investment plan for climate transition

Colombia has launched a new investment portfolio aimed at raising $40 billion to support its transition away from fossil fuels and adapt to climate change.

The portfolio will fund eco-tourism, a fair energy transition, and ecosystem conservation, according to the Environment Ministry.

Environment Minister Susana Muhamad highlighted Colombia’s leadership in promoting a fair climate transition and plans to secure substantial donor backing.

The announcement comes as Colombia prepares to host the COP16 biodiversity conference in Cali this October, underscoring its commitment to sustainable development and environmental preservation.
