Stillness Prevails In Banks On First Day of Presidential Elections

A state of stillness and anticipation prevailed over the banks’ branches as there were no customers and civil guards are spread in front of all banks, wary of possible riots that may occur in the first day of the presidential elections.

National Bank of Egypt’s branches are open in regular working hours, said Hazem Hegazy, general manager of branches and retail banking, adding that the Bank has a plan to secure its 259 branches across Egypt in case of erupting any riots or violence.

NBE‘s 1250 ATMs are also working regularly, Hegazy affirmed.

Sherif Lokman, head of branches at Alex Bank Intesa Sanpaolo, said the Bank’s 200 branches are also open for deposit and withdrawal, adding that the bank’s branches have been well-secured especially after the political turmoil and bank robberies that highly increased in the last period.
