Egypt advances 7,150 mw renewable energy projects
Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mahmoud Esmat, revealed on Monday that wind energy projects totalling 3,450 megawatts and solar energy projects reaching 3,700 megawatts are currently in progress.
Esmat noted that negotiations with solar project developers have led to the inclusion of battery storage systems to make use of the energy generated by solar plants during peak times, with the aim of improving the performance and stability of the national electricity grid.
The negotiations have resulted in developers installing battery storage systems with a total capacity of 2,840 megawatt-hours connected to these projects.
