Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mahmoud Esmat, held a meeting with Egypt’s newly appointed Ambassador to China, Khaled Nazmy, to discuss enhancing cooperation with Chinese companies in the energy sector, according to the Egyptian Cabinet.
The meeting focused on expanding joint projects in hydroelectric power storage, battery energy storage technologies, and digital transformation in electricity networks.
Esmat emphasised Egypt’s comprehensive strategy to maximise renewable energy potential, improve energy efficiency, and reduce reliance on traditional fuels.
He highlighted ongoing cooperation with Chinese firms in pumped-storage projects, grid modernisation, and loss reduction. Discussions also covered investment opportunities in renewable energy, smart grids, and energy storage systems, aligning with Egypt’s sustainable development goals.
The meeting underscored Egypt’s commitment to leveraging advanced technologies to enhance power generation, reduce electricity losses, and improve service efficiency while encouraging private sector participation in energy-related projects.
