Egypt confirms first coronavirus case in North Sinai

Egypt has confirmed on Thursday its first coronavirus case in North Sinai, according to a statement released by the governorate’s health directorate.

The patient has been submitted in the Beer El Abd Hospital, the statement read.

“The hospital has taken all the precautionary and treatment measures as per the adopted protocol in dealing with the suspected cases with COVID-19.” the statement said.

“The monitoring team carried out epidemiological investigations, clearance process of the case’s house, and followed up the procedures of tracking those who came in contact with the positive COVID-19 case,”
The health directorate called all North Sinai residents to commit to the precautionary measures announced by the state to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
The governor of North Sinai decided to allocate a number of schools and the on-campus housing at the university in Arish as quarantines if needed, the statement said.
